VIST, a mining technology company owned by ZYFRA, a well-known Russian supplier of data acquisition and AI industrial solutions, tested a new type of automated truck at extreme temperatures.
Belaz-7513R
The test vehicle was built on Belaz-7513R, and VIST said the automated vehicle could operate normally at extreme temperatures.
The truck's load is 110-136 tons. It is designed to complete rock transportation under severe mining conditions in deep mining pits. It can operate at ambient temperatures ranging from - 50 C to + 50 C. In a test drive, the upgraded model ran for 24 hours, completed 468 work cycles and traveled 153 kilometers without human intervention.
The main purpose of this test is to see whether snow will affect the radar system. During the whole test process, all the systems did not fail.
VIST said the Belaz-7513R automated truck uses a new generation of intelligent control systems, including electro-hydraulic steering system and electronic control brake, and can also perform more detailed ground scanning at extreme temperatures. The round-trip mode eliminates unnecessary steering movements, reduces tire wear and reduces the running time of the line by 12%.
The optimized automated mining system uses Belaz-7513R dump truck and Belaz-78250 front-end loader.
The company also plans to maximize automation of truck loading capacity in the future, the company said. The loader itself will be able to build a 3-D model of the rock to be loaded, determine the sequence of action and correlate its action with the location of the truck. Operator functions will also be reduced, as long as the issuance of instructions, so that each operator can manage 3-5 automatic loaders.
Trucks equipped with VIST automation systems have been operating in several parts of the world.
