Bell Equipment exhibited its latest "cross-border" model, B45E 4 *4 articulated dump truck, at the Bauma Exhibition. It is mainly used in restricted areas of mining and engineering industries.
In addition to large-scale mining and quarry applications, Tristan Du Pisanie, ADT marketing manager of Bell Equipment, said the model could also be used in small and medium-sized mines and quarries with low production. He said that the two-axle hinge has the same performance as a rigid truck when used on well-maintained dry roads, but performs better under wet and slippery all-weather conditions.
In addition, compared with the 4 *2 rigid vehicle designed for high-speed and long-distance transportation, the model is more economical, Pisanie said. Cost savings are reflected in low fuel consumption and smaller tire wear, Pisanie said. "After thousands of hours of operation, operators reported that Bell B60E had a 65% lower wear rate than a 4 *2 rigid truck of the same class."
The first half of B45E 4 *4 is essentially the same as the 6 *6 model, while the latter frame adopts the same design as the B60E 4 *4 model, mainly for mining applications. The power is a 523hp Mercedes Benz engine with a 7-speed Allison automatic transmission and both axles are wet brakes.
The 55-ton axle of this model is provided by Kessler (Kessler), a German manufacturer. It is equipped with 25 cubic metres of hopper. The hopper is similar to the rock hopper of rigid truck. The bottom-mounted dump cylinder is adopted. The hopper is wider and flat-bottomed. It can cooperate well with the loading equipment commonly used in quarries. The loading characteristic is better than that of the larger 6*6 hopper, and the hopper has no traditional hinged kana. The tail-up design, compared with the corresponding 6 *6 model, helps to reduce material backloading, Bell said.
The B45E 4*4 has a load of 41 tons and can be fitted with Bell's Comfort Ride adaptive front suspension system. The vehicle can drive smoothly.
