On September 14, 1961, the first BELAZ mining dump truck was assembled and started its glorious journey.
It is a BELAZ-540 prototype truck. Its innovative features significantly improve productivity and reduce the cost of material transportation in mines. The design of the truck is based on the study of the operation experience of MAZ-525 in various mines. Many advanced schemes are introduced into the design of the truck, which is designed for Open-pit mining. BELAZ-540 exhibits greater mobility and lower altitude than MAZ-525. The wheelbase is 1230 mm shorter than MAZ-525, the no-load capacity of BELAZ-540 is 21 tons, and the MAZ-525 is 24.3 tons. The reduction in deadweight increases its load to 27 tons.
MAZ-525
The reduction of dead weight and overall performance of Model 540 benefit from its good structure and configuration. In addition, the 540 spacious cab is placed near the engine, the frame and the bucket are inclined to 15 degrees, and the more powerful engine and hydraulic mechanical transmission enhance the traction dynamic parameters of the vehicle operating in specific mine conditions. In this way, the maximum speed is 53 km / h - 23 km higher than the maximum speed of the MAZ-525 dump truck.
BELAZ-540
The 540 became the basic model for the entire BELAZ dump truck family, which included 27 to 110 tons of heavy dump trucks for the mining and construction industries.
BELAZ-540 also participated in the Soviet Union's National Economic Development Exhibition, returned to the factory and commissioned, it was sent to the Razdolski sulfur mine, where it caused a sensation.
BelAZ-540 is a special model, it laid the foundation for the design of BELAZ mining car, this car has also been recognized by the world - won the gold medal in Leipzig, Germany in 1965 and the commemorative prize in Provdiv, Bulgaria in 1966. In 1967, the 5 improved 27 ton models were first awarded the national high quality trademark in the automobile industry of the country.
BelAZ-540 will be shipped to Leipzig.
